Rocker reflects on how music helped him face cancer

Mike Peters, front man of The Alarm and a long-standing cancer campaigner and fundraiser, has died aged 66.

The Welsh rocker was born in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, and formed the band in the county in 1981.

They went on to release hits such as Sixty Eight Guns which broke into the top 20.

Peters said his music “fortified” him following his diagnosis of lymphoma in 1995.

He was awarded the MBE in 2019 for his services to cancer care.
