5,000 aid trucks await clearance at Rafah border

Date:

The Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty have made their first visit to Egypt’s border crossing with Gaza.

It’s the only entry point Gaza shares with a state other than Israel, but access into Gaza from there is now shut, and under Israeli military control.

Long queues of trucks loaded with supplies wait to be cleared to enter through another Israeli crossing nearby.

The UN says more food is now entering Gaza after images of starving children sparked international outrage. But they say much more aid needs to get in, and much more quickly.

The BBC’s Chief International Correspondent Lyse Doucet has been travelling with the ministers.
